We spent a couple nights at Etosha National Park. There we saw so many animals over the time of three different game drives that totaled 8 hours of game drive time. I will list a few such as Zebra, Giraffe, elephant, Blue wildebeest, many separate prides (8) of lions, Black Rhinoceros, Red hartebeest, impala, spring bok, gemsboks, so many birds, something called the Kori bastard, which is the heaviest flying bird. All of these animals were right along the road. My favorite was the baby animals we saw, such as zebra, giraffe, and gemsbok. I also really enjoyed watching two male lions with their big mane of hair double team hunting a bunch of spring boks. I got out of my tent at 1am to go watch a water hole and there was a black Rhino drinking water just about 30 feet from me. No one else was there just me and the Rhino.
Waterberg plateau rises out of the scrub covered desert in northern namibia, about 40 minutes of red dirt brings you to the base of the plateau. The camping although not quite totally level, was excellent. The walking trails were extensive and fun, with many birds to be seen, and the occassional kudu or baboon. The scramble to the top of the plateau had me paranoid of snakes, but the views were incredible. I highly recommed a side trip to this place.
