Nkhata Bay is a picture perfect paradise. I stayed at Njaya, which has seen better days, but you could easily walk down a trail to the perfect white sand beach. It was so relaxing and I have personally never seen more inviting fresh water anywhere in the world. I have spent a lot of time in tropical beaches all over the world, and my mind was constantly tricked, the soft sand, the gorgeous and prolific tropical freshwater fishes, and the water clarity, I thought I was somewhere in the pacific, but no, Lake Malawi has it all in the true heart of africa.
I headed south from nkhata by sea kayak, leisurely rounding point after point, visiting and seeing remote villages while camping along the way. Alas the weather turned pretty sour with a seasonal wind that whips up waves and we had to cut the trip short, but still it was great to be out in the remote area.
