We are in the garden route of South Africa, which is along the coast east of Cape Town. Yesterday, we just relaxed on the beach, reading and watching people surf. Last night our hostel had a South African family style dinner, which meant all the 8 people staying in the hostel ate together. The dinner was like a stew with meat and veggies. It was nice talking with other travelers. They told us that South Africa appears the most similar to USA. I do agree with them that of all the places I have visited South Africa appears to be so similar to California. The scenery includes mountains, trees, rock cliffs and amazing beaches. The prices for food and hotels are also like the USA, so we are spending more than we expected. South Africa does have more wild life, such as on the bus ride we saw a baboon walking along the highway.
Today we went on an ocean safari, which is a dolphin and whale watching boat ride. We saw more dolphins than I have ever seen at one time. There were two different kinds of many schools of dolphins. Some of the schools had up to 20 dolphins. We also saw seals that were very good at rock climbing. These seals would climb right up the face of steep rock. Really cool.
